1. Who we are
Scryn Inc. ("Scryn," "we," "us," or "our") provides a software-as-a-service platform and related tools to help investors, advisors, and other business entities identify and connect with potential targets and partners. Scryn is incorporated in the State of Delaware and operates from the United States. All personal data we process is stored and processed in the United States, even when collected from users or prospects based in other countries.
2. Territorial scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed by Scryn in the following ways:
- All users: The general sections of this Policy apply to all users of the Site and Service, regardless of location.
- EU/EEA and UK users: Additional information for individuals in the European Union, European Economic Area, and United Kingdom, including our legal bases for processing and your right to object, is set out in Section 9.
- California residents: Additional information about your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended, "CCPA/CPRA") appears in Section 10.
- Canadian residents: Additional information for individuals in Canada, including your rights under applicable Canadian privacy laws such as PIPEDA, appears in Section 11.
We offer our services globally, including to companies based in the EU/EEA and UK. Our core infrastructure is hosted in the United States. Certain team members located in Europe may access and process client data (for example, for sales, customer support, and administrative purposes). The Scryn platform does not maintain a native central repository of professional contact information for potential target companies; any such contact information used in connection with the Service is sourced from vetted external platforms and is not reviewed or curated by European teams.
3. What information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identity information: Name, job title, role, company name.
- Contact information: Business email address, phone number, mailing or billing address.
- Account information: Login credentials, user settings, account preferences.
- Transaction information: Subscription details, billing records, and payment information handled via our payment providers.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and usage logs (such as pages viewed, login timestamps, and session duration).
- Marketing and communications preferences: Information about your preferences for receiving communications from us.
The Scryn platform focuses on company-level information. Where professional contact information is processed, Scryn may enrich such information using reputable third-party sources to maintain accuracy and relevance.
Any enrichment is limited to professionally focused attributes (such as role, title, employer, publicly available professional activity, or business contact details) and does not involve the inference of private, sensitive, or non-professional personal characteristics.
We do not intentionally collect "sensitive" personal information such as government identifiers, health information, precise geolocation, or similar categories, and we do not collect information from individuals we know are under 18.
4. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information in the following ways:
- Directly from you: When you create an account, fill out forms, request a demo, interact with our sales teams, or communicate with us.
- Automatically: Through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Site or Service, as described in our cookie section.
- From third parties: From service providers and partners (for example, payment processors or customer support tools) and, for sales activities, from business contact providers or public sources where permitted by law.
5. How we use personal information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Providing and operating the Service, managing user accounts, and delivering customer support, including automated analysis of professionally focused data to support company discovery, classification, and prioritization within the Service.
- Performing sales and business development activities, including contacting prospective business customers using professional contact details.
- Processing payments, managing subscriptions, and handling billing.
- Maintaining and improving the security, performance, and functionality of the Site and Service.
- Communicating with you about the Service, including operational messages, security alerts, and, where permitted, marketing communications.
- Analyzing usage patterns in an aggregated or de-identified way to help improve our products and services.
- Complying with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes, and enforcing our agreements.
We do not sell personal information. We also do not use personal information for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. How we share personal information
We share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers: With trusted vendors that provide services such as hosting, infrastructure, customer support tools, communications, and payment processing, subject to contractual obligations to protect your information.
- Customers and business clients: In limited cases, we may share professional contact details (such as name, role, and business email) with clients in the context of corporate transactions, such as where clients are evaluating potential counterparties or targets. Such sharing occurs only at the instruction of Scryn's clients and on the basis of legitimate interests, where necessary to support specific investment, M&A, or business relationship activities. In all cases, sharing is limited to professionally relevant information, subject to applicable law and contractual safeguards.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
- Legal and compliance: To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect our rights, safety, or property.
We do not share personal information with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
7. International data considerations
All personal information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. If you access the Site or Service from outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to, and processed in, the United States, which may have different data protection laws than the laws in your country.
Where required by applicable law, Scryn relies on approved cross-border data transfer mechanisms, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Scryn also implements supplementary measures, as appropriate, to protect personal data transferred internationally.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Site and Service.
- Types of cookies: We may use cookies that support core functionality (for example, login and session management), as well as cookies that help us understand how the Site and Service are used (for example, support or help-center usage, or aggregated product analytics).
- Third-party tools: Certain third-party tools integrated into the Site or Service (such as support or communication tools) may place cookies to help us deliver support and measure usage of those features, in accordance with their own privacy practices.
- Website analytics (Microsoft Clarity): On our website (scryn.co) we use Microsoft Clarity, a service provided by Microsoft Corporation, to understand how visitors use the Site. Clarity records pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, together with device, browser and approximate location information derived from your IP address, and uses cookies to recognize a returning browser. Clarity runs only after you accept analytics in the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of the Site. Microsoft processes this information as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
You may be able to configure your browser to block or delete cookies. However, doing so may affect the functionality of the Site or Service. Where required by applicable law (for example, in certain European jurisdictions), we will ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies.
9. Additional information for EU/EEA and UK users (GDPR)
When Scryn processes personal data that falls within the scope of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, Scryn generally acts as a controller for the personal data it collects directly (for example, account, billing, and sales contact data) and as a processor when processing customer-uploaded data under a contract with a customer.
Legal bases for processing
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: To provide, operate, and support the Service, including managing accounts and responding to support requests.
- Compliance with legal obligations: To meet record-keeping, accounting, and other legal requirements.
- Legitimate interests: To operate and improve our business and the Service, including securing our systems, preventing fraud, carrying out limited B2B sales and marketing activities using professional contact details, and understanding how the Service is used, provided that these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered and balanced those interests against the impact on individuals and implement safeguards where appropriate, and you have the right to object as described below.
Automated processing and profiling
Scryn uses automated processing and profiling techniques as part of the Service to analyze and organize company-related and professionally focused information (for example, to classify companies, surface relevant opportunities, or prioritize results based on professional criteria).
This processing is limited to professional and business-related data and does not involve the inference of sensitive personal characteristics or non-professional personal information.
Scryn does not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning individuals or similarly significantly affects them within the meaning of Article 22 of the GDPR.
Your GDPR rights and right to object
Subject to applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access, rectification, and erasure.
- Right to restriction of processing.
- Right to data portability (for certain data you have provided to us).
- Right to object: You may object at any time to processing of your personal data that we carry out based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing, and we will stop such processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds or another legal basis to continue.
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence or work, or where you believe an infringement has occurred.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Additional information for California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding your personal information, including the right to know, delete, and correct certain information, as well as the right to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.
We describe the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, business purposes for use, and categories of recipients in Sections 3 to 6. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
You or your authorized agent may submit a verifiable consumer request by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within the time frames required by California law, subject to any permitted extensions.
11. Additional information for Canadian residents
If you are in Canada, Scryn processes your personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws such as PIPEDA.
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent (which may be express or implied, depending on the context) or as otherwise permitted or required by law. You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal information held by us, subject to legal limitations. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
12. Data retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, such as access controls, encryption in transit, and monitoring of our infrastructure. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your choices and contact details
